Objective
This Knowedge Base article explains how to set up or update a company fee on a claim in Claim Wizard so future financial calculations use the correct fee. It covers both entering the fee during onboarding and editing it later on an existing claim.
Key Steps
1. Confirm you have the required access 0:19
- Verify you have the proper permissions before making changes.
- Required access may include:
- Office Manager
- Other permissions that allow claim fee edits
- If you can see the fast entry button you can edit your company fee
- If you do not have access, request it before proceeding.
2. Enter the fee during claim onboarding 0:44
- Open the new claim and go to the Lost Detail / Contract Details area.
- Scroll until you find the Contract Details section.
- Enter the company fee using the appropriate format:
- Percentage
- Flat fee
- Hourly
- Most users will enter the fee as a percentage.
- Save the claim once the fee is entered.
3. Save the fee so it applies throughout the claim lifecycle 1:10
- Click Save after entering the fee.
- Confirm the fee is stored on the contract.
- The saved fee will be used for future financial calculations throughout the life of the claim.
4. Open an existing claim to update the fee 1:26
- If the claim already exists, open it first.
- Use the shortcut Alt + click on the file number to open the claim quickly.
- Navigate to the Claim Summary section.
5. Edit the company fee on the claim summary 1:43
- Locate the Claim Fee field in the claim summary.
- Click Edit.
- Update the percentage as needed.
- Click Save to apply the change.
Cautionary Notes
- Do not change the fee unless you are authorized to do so.
- Make sure you are editing the correct claim before saving changes.
- Confirm whether the fee should be entered as a percentage, flat fee, or hourly rate before saving.
- If the fee is updated after claim activity has already occurred, verify whether downstream financial calculations need review.
Tips for Efficiency
- Use the Alt + click shortcut on the file number to open claims faster.
- Remember that if a field is not immediately visible, continue scrolling in ClaimWizard.
- Standardize on percentage entry when appropriate, since it is the most commonly used format.
- Save immediately after entering or editing the fee to avoid losing changes.
